Acer announces TravelMate 8481 14-inch laptop in the UK

Acer has unveiled their newest laptop computer, the TravelMate 8481, that Acer called a “true road warrior”. The TravelMate 8481 combines a slim and light design with a fairly powerful set of components that allows to run business productivity applications 60% faster than the previous generation.

The TravelMate 8481 laptop will use the 2nd generation Intel Core processors inside and Intel HD Graphics 3000 along with Intel Wireless Display tech allows you to shoot the images on screen out to a larger display or TV without needing wires. The laptop can also be optioned with an NVIDIA discrete GPU with Optimus technology.

Other features include up to a choice of 14-inch 1366×768 display or 13-inch screen, a 320GB hard drive or 64GB mSATA SSD, up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM, Gigabit LAN, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, USB 3.0, a Magnesium-Aluminium chassis, up to 9 hours of battery life, and Acer’s DustDefender technology that works via a smart reversing mechanism in the cooling fan to push the dust out. The laptop weighs 3.306 pounds only 2.2 cm (0.87 inches) at its highest point.

The TravelMate 8481 will be available in August with prices starting from £699 ex-VAT.
